Plant Exploration

Mt. Cuba Center has an active program of field study and plant exploration that supports our gardens, horticultural research, and conservation activities. Working with colleagues throughout the eastern and southeastern United States, Mt. Cuba Center targets priority species to collect seed and document habitats. The information collected from these field studies is entered into our computerized database, BG-BASE. Seed that is propagated from field collections contributes in many ways to Mt. Cuba Center’s institutional mission.
